Ashers first trip!

Asher headed for school this morning to go on his first big trip. He was supposed to be camping but can’t because of covid 😞. So instead they will spend the day hiking in Deception Pass, come home snd then continue the trip tomorrow. Asher was very nervous snd that is why he looks so sad in this picture.

Asher – science teacher helper

So far Asher says middle school is fun but super easy. He read several non fiction science books over the summer including one about quantum physics so it is no surprise his teacher asked him to assist with class. Asher is thrilled! He had expressed interest in being a science professor in the past so this is good practice.

Max off to school 🏫 🚴

Max so far has been able to ride his bike to school every single day. Not a bad weather day yet! So lucky since we have decided it’s not safe to take the bus until vaccinated.

Max and Daddy Backpack at Mt Rainier

Max and Brian went on Max’s first real backpacking trip this past weekend!

We went with Max’s friend “Max L” and his dad. We started at Mowich Lake on the northwest corner of Mt Rainier National Park and hiked to Eagle’s Roost Camp in the “Spraypark” area.

Over two days, we did about ~11 miles and ~2500ft of elevation gain. We enjoyed a dinner of freeze dried vacuum packed meals including Beef Stroganoff, Mac and Cheese, Chicken and Rice, and Chili Mac! For dessert, astronaut ice cream of course.

We even ran into a black bear busy eating berries to prepare for hibernation. He was about ~30 ft away, we left him alone until he walked off and then we could pass on the trail.

Here are a few other pictures from our adventures!
