Hi Kara and Brian,
It was great to see Asher for a full day today! He spent a lot of time playing with our small cars again, and when he's looking for them he says, "Cars cars cars." He lines them up, and then he moves them to another place, and lines them up again there. I swear he spends an equal amount of time every day playing alone and playing with other kids; he's such a BALANCED child. He'd play his car game, and then go run around the climbing structure with Liam, then make a playdough structure, then use rhythm sticks with Sam and Nahshon. After we eat lunch, the kids who nap go to sleep, and the other kids do quieter work like puzzles, pegboards, and books. Today I was handing Asher puzzles to work on, and he kept shaking his head until I gave him a difficult enough puzzle with lots of pieces!
I attached a picture of Asher making playdough sculptures with snow playdough (white playdough, iridescent glitter, and peppermint extract) and dry pieces of pasta; he was concentrating really hard on making the pieces of pasta stand up straight in the playdough – he even brought a chair over so he could sit down while working. I also attached a picture of him drumming with rhythm sticks. He REALLY likes those. We've been talking about opposites lately – it started with talking about how warm water melts frozen icebergs (water frozen in bowls and flipped upside down) – and today we practiced drumming loudly and drumming softly.
Asher also had fun playing in our sensory pool filled with rice and Arctic animals and making pictures using glue, paintbrushes, and white pom-poms.
Talk to you soon!
